Unlock Your Pixel’s Potential
PixelXpert is a powerful tool that lets you change things on Google Pixel devices. As a hybrid Xposed+Magisk module, it lets you make a lot of changes that aren’t possible with the standard Android Open Source Project (AOSP) firmware. PixelXpert lets you deeply customize how your device looks and works by using both Magisk (for system-level access) and the Xposed framework (for hooking apps and frameworks).
This module adds code to change how the system works, giving you features that go far beyond just changing the look of things. Before you install, it’s very important to read the whole description, especially the parts about compatibility and requirements, to make sure your device is supported and to avoid any problems that might come up.
Core Features and Customizations
PixelXpert offers a full set of tweaks that are easy to manage with a separate app. The changes focus on important parts of the Pixel’s system and user interface, so you have full control over your device.
Right now, you can make changes for:
- Status Bar: Change the clock display, battery indicators, icons, and other things.
- Quick Settings Panel: Change the layout, add or remove toggles, and change how the QS panel works.
- Lock Screen: Change the shortcuts on the lock screen, the album art display, and other visual parts.
- Notifications: Get more control over how notifications work, look, and are grouped.
- Gesture Navigations: Change how sensitive or how the gesture navigation pill and back gestures look.
- Phone & Dialer: Change the look and feel of the Google Phone app and how it handles calls.
- Hotspot: Get more advanced tethering or hotspot features.
- Package Manager: Control system and user apps with extra permissions.
- Screen Properties: Change settings related to the screen, like the refresh rate or other display settings.
Strict Compatibility Requirements
WARNING: PixelXpert is only meant to work with official Google Pixel devices that have their original, unmodified stock Pixel firmware.
This module WILL NOT work on any custom ROMs. This includes well-known ROMs like Pixel Experience (PE), Pixel Experience Plus, Pixel Plus UI, LineageOS, and any other AOSP-based version. Also, it doesn’t work with stock ROMs from other companies, like Samsung’s OneUI, Xiaomi’s MIUI, or OnePlus’s OxygenOS. This module will probably cause problems like instability, bootloops, or strange behavior if you use it on a ROM or device that isn’t supported.
Please follow the compatibility chart below exactly, based on the version of Android you have and the level of security patch for your firmware:
- Android 12 / 12.1: Use the final legacy version: v2.4.1.
- Android 13 (QPR1 - up to Nov 2022 patch): Use the final legacy version: v.2.4.1.
- Android 13 (QPR3 - Dec 2022 patch and newer): Use v.2.5 or any later stable/canary build.
- Android 14: Use v.2.9 or any later stable/canary build.
* **Android 15 (Beta Versions):** Only the very newest versions of Canary are supported. Be ready for possible problems and use with care.
Installation Prerequisites
These are the three most important things that your device must have in order to install PixelXpert:
- Compatible ROM: You need to be running a supported stock Pixel firmware, which is explained in the compatibility section above.
- Root Access: You need to use Magisk v24.2+ or KernelSU (KSU) to root your device.
- LSPosed: You need the Xposed framework. The LSPosed version that is based on Zygisk is the best. If you have Android 14 or later, you need to use the LSPosed fork by JingMatrix.
How to Install PixelXpert
To install the module, please follow these steps carefully:
- Get: From the links above, download the right stable Magisk module (zip file) that works with your device’s firmware.
- Put in place: Launch your Magisk Manager or KSU app, go to the modules section, and install the zip file you downloaded.
- Restart: Reboot your device after the installation is complete. The module is made to work with devices that are safe from bootlooping.
- Turn on and set up: After the reboot, open the new “PixelXpert” app from your app drawer. Here is where you can make all the changes you want and apply them.
Important Information for KernelSU (KSU) Users: KSU might not give the PixelXpert companion app root access right away. To get PixelXpert to work right, you might have to open your KSU app and give it root access by hand.
Understanding Release Variants: Stable vs. Canary
There are two different release channels (flavors) for PixelXpert. You can update both flavors automatically through the Magisk manager or the in-app updater. Stable Release:
- This is the version that most people should use.
- These builds have been tested and are thought to be reliable.
- Manual Install/Update: You can either download from the main Github release page or use the updater in the app.
Canary Release:
- This is a “bleeding-edge” build for development. It has the latest features and fixes, but it might also add new bugs. You use this at your own risk.
- Install/Update by Hand: You can get it from the Actions page of the repository, the official Telegram channel, or the special canary builds tag. The PixelXpert app has an updater that makes it easy to switch between the Stable and Canary channels at any time.
Translations
If you speak more than one language, you can help the project by translating PixelXpert into your first language. The AOSPMods Crowdin page is where all translations are handled.
Donations
PixelXpert is an open-source project that anyone can use, build, or fork for free. The developers don’t ask for money from people. But if you want to show your gratitude, they ask that you give to your favorite local charity or help pay for school for kids in need through Child Foundation.
