Introduction to ZIXchiver
ZIXchiver combines everyday file management, powerful archive handling, and a suite of built-in media and developer tools in one Android app. Its Material 3 interface is designed for phones and tablets, while optional root access unlocks protected system locations for advanced users.
More Than a File Manager
Browse storage in multiple tabs, queue long file operations in the background, explore archives before extracting them, and open common media and document formats without constantly switching apps.
Flexible File Browsing
Use multiple tabs, navigation history, list, grid, gallery, or automatic layouts across internal and removable storage. Sort, filter, search recursively, or match names with regular expressions.
Background Operations
Copy, move, delete, rename, compress, and extract jobs continue through a task queue with live progress, transfer speed, and notifications, even after you leave the app.
Advanced Archive Tools
Create ZIP, TAR, and TAR.GZ files, extract a broad range of formats, inspect an archive before unpacking it, and choose specialized engines for formats such as 7z, Brotli, Zstandard, XZ, tar, and cpio.
Optional Root Capabilities
Root is never required for normal use. When granted, it enables access to protected paths such as /data/data, an advanced owner and permission editor, SELinux context changes, and an Ubuntu chroot terminal.
Built-In Tools
